Today however, we shed light unto Edmonia Lewis. The first Black and Native Sculptor who received international recognition through maintaining her authenticity. 

Despite societal setbacks of race and gender, she has made her personal mark that continues to be relevant today. Thank you, Lewis. 🤎

It's Black History Month!🖤🥳 Not only that, it has It's Black History Month!🖤🥳 Not only that, it has been 100 years since we have dedicated February as a time to celebrate Black History and acknowledge the work. What started on Feb 7th, 1926 to now.

Today we are showing a small portion of the life of Folk Artist Clementine Hunter who is a prominent Black female artist. Despite the social limitations of her time she still kept creating over 5,000+ paintings. Hunter is a perfect example of using what you can to fulfill your hearts passions. 

Her work is still relevant today and in classrooms giving students the inspirations to paint. Thank you Clementine Hunter!
